Worship Moved Online Again
In light of the announcement from Dr. Bonnie Henry today (Nov 7,) we are going to cancel the Sunday gatherings at the church for the next three weeks (including tomorrow). We will continue to offer a live stream service, but it might look a little different. We need to take these instructions seriously for our health and the health of those people we are called to love.
This is what the announcement on City News Website says:
“As part of the first regional restrictions announced during a rare weekend update, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the order will start at 10 PM tonight and last for two weeks in an effort to curb transmission of COVID-19. Bars and restaurants can still stay open. Other indoor group activities are banned and people should also only be travelling to and from those regions if it is essential. All businesses need to revisit COVID-19 safety plans.”
To be clear, Dr. Henry did say that churches could stay open, but we believe that it is in your best interest for us to help you limit your “bubble size.” Everyone has their own social contacts/bubble and we expand that when we gather together. We believe that we can still be the church even if we do not gather together in person.
BC announced 567 new cases of COVID-19 today! And the highest case numbers come from the Fraser Health Region and Surrey in specific! As the numbers around us increase, we recognize that we need to be extra careful.
Please stay home as much as possible at this point. Wash your hands, wear a mask, keep your distance when you do go out.
I am sad that we will not be together tomorrow or over the next couple of weeks, but I know that God is at work in our hearts and in our community even if we do not get to see each other face to face.
We will still have our prayer times in the morning (8 AM Tuesday-Friday and 9 AM on Sundays) on Zoom, Sunday evening faith conversations and our Bible studies.
